We moved into this house in 2008, a sprawling three bedroom house for two adults and one tiny baby. We had our master bedroom, a nursery and an office. That room that started out as the office has gone through many changes, and this weekend it underwent yet another one! Let's visit what the room used to look like:
Apparently I don't take a lot of pictures of just rooms, I blame my dad. He says unless its beautiful scenery, pictures without people don't matter, which I totally agree with...usually. Anyways, here is a 6 moth old Elias in our office back in September 2008
In May/June 2009, we painted the room and bought a twin size bed and matching dresser and gave Elias his first big boy room! I lost all of the pictures in the great computer crash of 2010 so this will have to do, at least you can see the paint job.
In May of 2011, We started the preparation to prepare the older two kids to welcome another baby to the mix and moved both kids into one room! We decided to keep Elias' transportation theme and just match Annie's side of the room up to it, poor girl had to live ( and still does) in a very very boy room!
Then as the kids grew, along with their toys, we bunked the beds and re-did their closet in July of 2012. At some point along the way, before Samuel was born we moved the 9 cube out and moved in a very large toy storage shelf that Brandon and Jordan used as kids.
That brings us to the present. October 2013. Samuel had been sleeping in the master bedroom with mom and dad in his mini-crib for the first three months of life. With Brandon on mids, and gone at night, I needed to be available for any night time wakings and morning routines. I didn't want the kids to keep waking (my awesome sleeper) Samuel up and ruining his routine, we needed a solution. Benjamin is not ready to be in a toddler bed just yet, he has a strong will and at this point it would be so stressful on me to get him to stay in his bed at night. We decided to move the crib and dresser into the big kid room and all the toys into the nursery.
Sorry the rooms were messy, we had already started the switching process when I took the pictures.
The finish product!
Things have been going great. Samuel has spent two nights in there, the first he woke up once at 3 am for a quick feeding and the second he slept for 9 hours and woke up after the big kids and me! The kids love having all the play space that the nursery provides and Elias likes having only his toys in the big kids room. He still has a hard time when the order of his play setup gets moved or tromped through, so hopefully in addition to space and sleep, this setup will also ease his anxiety a bit too!
