I didn't do the whole blogging thing back when Miss Annie Kat was born so her birth story and pictures were not shared with the world...until now. In honor of Annie's 5th birthday, here is her big day.
Welcome Ann Katherine Eberhardt
born September 30th 2009 5:25 pm
7lbs 9oz 21 inches long
Annie's birth story: Elias was a big baby, 10 lbs to be exact, for that reason my Dr. decided to induce me a week before my due date to avoid the difficult labor and delivery I experienced with Elias. I was supposed to be induced on October 1st, or so I thought. I got up the morning of the 30th and was doing some e-mailnig when my phone rang. At 6:30 I found this rather unusual but answered it none the less. It was altru asking if I was still planning on coming up for my induction..uh what? I guess there was a mis-understanding between me and my doctor so I was not very prepared. I called Grandma Mim who rushed over to be with Elias. I got dressed grabbed my bag and Brandon and I headed up to the hospital. I got checked in, hooked up and the fun began....or not. I had never been induced before and let me tell you it was AWFUL. My body did not want to be in labor and I sat there watching the clock tick by with no progress, no drugs and no patience. Brandon and I played war and other card games to try to pass the time but eventually I was in too much pain to go on. I'm sure Brandon was bored and I know he was hungry since at one point he left to go grab a bite to eat, I don't blame the guy! Finally around 4pm the Dr. came in to check me and if there was no progress, they were going to just send me home. Awesome.
Thankfully, I had reached 3cm and they decided I would stay and was allowed to have an epidural. At this point I had been having contractions for 7 hours and was just sitting in bed the whole time not knowing how to manage the pain or handle the contractions. The nurse and I both strongly encouraged Brandon to go home to rest, eat and play with Elias, it was probably going to be a LONG night. I had my epidural around 4:45 and was finally resting comfortable. The nurse was doing some charting and gave me a list of symptoms to let her know if I had because it could mean I was progressing or ready to push. I started off saying nope nope nope to all of them. It wasn't even 5 minuets before I said, actually, I do feel kinda nauseous all of a sudden. She looked concerned and checked me, I was at 8 cm!!
She told me to call Brandon and I did. He said OK let me just put in my contacts and take a quick shower and I will be right up, you have to remember I pushed for 3 hours with Elias. Another 10 minuets went by and I was at 10 cm and ready to push. The nurse grabbed my phone from me( because I was freaking out and getting ready to push) and called Brandon and said GET HERE NOW! Brandon ran out of the house, sped through town and didn't stop running until he reached the elevators. He rushed in grabbed my hand and in two pushes, little miss Ann came into the world! It was so fast and so crazy! Once my body was able to relax from the epidural, I progressed and out she came!
In Eberhardt tradition, Brandon went to get me dinner and we welcomed our first visitors of the night, his Aunt Sue and cousin Amber who happened to be in town, Kellie, Mim, Megan, and Uncle Jordan.
Brandon went home to be with Elias and Annie and I hung out all night. Annie had been through a lot and her little body was just so tired, she slept for 8 hours, I could not rouse her, nurses could not rouse her, she could not be roused. I wished I would have known that then, I would have slept! Oh well, we had a calm night either way. In the morning big brother Elias came to meet his baby sister. It was the first night I had ever spent away from him and I was so happy to see him! He didn't care much about meeting Annie but I will pretend he was excited about her. We hung out as a family of 4 for a bit then we got packed up and headed home to start out life with our little Annie Kat!
Hope you enjoyed Annie's birth-day story. It was five years ago but I still remember it like it was yesterday.
She came into the world in a crazy fast fashion and hasn't stopped that lifestyle since! She spends her days running, tumbling and generally just being crazy all over the place. She has a heart of gold and wants nothing more then to be a mommy. She loves her daddy to the moon and back and melts his heart on a daily basis. She loves learning, school, gymnastics, ballet and pretty much any activity we have put her in. She loves hanging out with her friends and being social. She hasn't grown out of cuddling yet and loves to snuggle up with a blanket and a book.
You're my girl you're my world you're my bean you'r my everything!
As we like to say, in this house full of boys,us girls have to stick together!
