Pregnancy Highlights 28 weeks

28 weeks

28 weeks pregnant June 4th, written June 24th. Almost caught up!

Pregnancy Highlights

( do you like my green crocs? I got dressed, actually put on makeup and left for the day wearing my house shoes....)

How Far Along: 28 Weeks

Weight Gain: +18 lbs

Size of baby: According to Glow, baby is a little over 2 lbs and the size of an eggplant

Maternity Clothes: Dresses day and night. I love summer !

Gender: Ribbons and Pearls

Movement: SO MUCH MOVING

What I miss: Sleep, when can I sleep again!!!!

Sleep: Nicholas is actually turning a corner in this area. Now if I could only get Brandon to stop snoring......I can fall asleep great but if I wake up for any reason and hear his snoring I am up. The other day I was up at 4:45 am and couldn't get back to sleep.

Symptoms: Still feeling fabulous, no heartburn or intense back pain like usual. Must be our new healthy diet( more on that in a later post)

Cravings: Apple, I am loving apples

Best Moment this week: Failing the gestational diabetes test and becoming so ill from it I refused the second test. Just kidding that was the worst moment:)

What I am looking forward to:  My next couple Dr. appointments so I can be retested and told I don't have gestation diabetes. Not that I think its impossible it is just that we are eating the absolute best we ever have, I feel great and I would just find it impossible to believe I am having blood sugar issues given I have had them in the past and know how they make me feel and I don't feel like that. As Tony the Tiger says, I feel GrrreeaaaaT!

UPDATE: The good thing about blogging late is there is time for updates:) Backstory: I went in for my glucose test a few weeks ago. I drank the medical crush as it is now called, had my blood drawn and spent the entire day so so sick! Huge headache, throwing up, the whole 9 yards. We recently switched to a plant base diet and that virtually eliminates sugar so I think my body was in shock. I get a call the next day that says my cbc blood work was read-able but there was a lab error and I needed to redo the glucose test. The next day Brandon let me sleep in, a rare treat, I didn't eat or drink anything the day before because I was sick and was super dehydrated heading into my 2nd test. I drank my drink and you guessed it spent the whole day being sick again!!!! Thankfully they were able to read my test but I failed by a few points. They scheduled me for the longer test and I said nope no way. My Dr. decided to have me meet with a diabetes educator, test my blood sugars and go back in to follow up to see what was going on since I refused to do another sugar test.  After some serious debacles with getting the right supplies, I tested my sugars 4 times a day for a week and SHOCKINGLY(or not)...... they were all normal. We had recently switched to a much healthier diet and so I didn't even have to worry about counting carbs or snacks or what I was eating which was really nice. I just ate...lots:)  I still  have to test my blood sugars 6-8 time a week instead of 4 times a day but I am not annoyed because it is better safe then sorry but even at almost 32 weeks all numbers are still normal. So here is to hoping the rest of my pregnancy is not as eventful as this last month was!

April Cell Phone Pics

I am bound and determined to catch up before this baby is born! Only two months behind now!!!

Melissa came to town and stopped over with some candy samples from the new candy store in town. Half the neighborhood seemed to be over and jumped all over the candy!
 Nicholas shows no fear
 Annie being arrested
I have a feeling we might be seeing this pose sometime in her future. Not for anything really bad, more of a Rory Gilmore arrest I hope.
Caught these cuties in the back of a cop car. They love playing in Daddy's car!
Jumping for joy it is spring!!
Waiting for daddy to come home
This girl has it all figured out. Nice day and a good book!
Looking rather grown up with her braces
Nicholas and Ainsley, he loves her!
Whenever Auntie Melissa stops by she is surrounded by kids!

Pregnancy Highlights 20 Weeks

20 weeks
I was 20 weeks back in early April but because I am so far behind on the blog, I am doing an update for 20,24 and 28 weeks all at the same time. By the time I finish I should be 32 and not trying to remember my stats from weeks ago! Thankfully, there is an app for that!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 20 Weeks

Size of baby: According to my Glow pregnancy app, the baby is the size of a banana and around 9 or 10 oz

Weight Gain: +17 lbs

Maternity Clothes: For the most part, yes. I love all my cool weather maternity clothes, they are so comfy and I could live in them 24/7 if it was socially acceptable to wear elastic while not pregnant.

Gender: Our 20 week ultra sound confirmed, its a girl!!

Movement: Lots and lots of movements recently, I have even felt those first hiccups

What I miss: Nothing really

Sleep: I get no sleep ever. Nicholas has decided he doesn't need to sleep and Brandon snores SOOOO loud. I do not have a problem mid day napping if the opportunity comes up so that is good.

Symptoms:Nothing other than the occasional back ache
Cravings: None
Best Moment this week: Having my first 3D ultrasound. They are weird but cool at the same time

What I am looking forward to: Figuring out where this baby is going to sleep!

Spring Sewing projects

I went on a little sewing binge during April. I made a few things for baby girl, a couple things for Annie and even a couple things for me! I really enjoy sewing but it takes me a while to get mentally prepared to start a project. Once I start one I find my self starting 10, then I have to finish them all, eek!
 Matching mommy and me leggings
Annie is becoming quite the sewer. She made her baby sister a swaddle blanket
Once more shot of Annie's Easter dress. It still really bothers me that the sash is tied uneven in this picture ahhhhhh I want to photoshop it back in the correct place but I will deal.
Who needs lula roe when you have a serger?!
I made Annie matching leo and shorts and they fit great! It only took a few to finally master the darned elastic in these!

Now if you will excuse me, doing this post has giving me the sewing bug and I have 7 projects calling my name.

Annie's Last Dance Competition

The last weekend in April brought Annie's second and final dance competition of the year! Originally, we had planned to take the whole family but as it got closer we decided that Annie and I would just drive down and back in one day. Duluth is about 4 hours away and I knew Annie would get bored no matter what we brought to do, after careful consideration, I decided to invite Benjamin along to keep Annie company in the car. Once again, Benjamin did great! Him and Annie chatted, played and snacked their way to Duluth.
As soon as we arrived we dropped Annie off with her team and Benjamin and I hung out in the stand watching some dances. He says the funniest things and even covered his eyes when he felt the girls were not appropriately dressed or dancing too crazy. He kept me great company while Annie was away from us, and had some great commentary about her dance. After awards we loaded up and hit the road. We drove almost half way home before we stopped for dinner. I forced the kids to nap a bit on the way home and after only 687 times of asking are we almost home, we arrived back to good ole Grand Forks! We left around 7 am and got home around 8 pm. A long day in the car but a fun one none the less!

Only in North Dakota

There is no denying that winter in North Dakota is long, even so, we are usually able to pack away the snow pants and heavy duty gloves by the end of March. We had some really beautiful weather the beginning of April and I thought the winter was behind us....
I was wrong.

The last week in April brought a very snowy surprise! A cold front blew in and about 6 inches of heavy wet snow fell. We knew that the snow would be gone by the afternoon so we took full advantage of our last snow day, just one more advantage of homeschooling! I had to dig through the bins in the garage and the basement and find all of their water proof snow gear, it was a pain!
The snow was perfect for snow ball rolling and snow man building. The weather was warming up even as we played, but we still managed to play outside for a couple of hours! The kids had fun but I think they are all ready for warmer weather to come and stay!
