Annual Pumpkin Carving

One of the things I love most about the fall is the colors, the crisp air and the traditions our family has built around the season. The pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving top the list. Every year we gather the supplies, cover the table and get to work.
pre-kid pumpkin carving days

Each year it ends the same, Brandon and I chasing after kids and Uncle Jordan finishing the pumpkins, this year was pretty much the same, only replace Jordan with Kellie! Poor show this year Jordan, poor show!
Anyways, last year Uncle Jordan did the most awesome Ariel pumpkin ever, this year, Annie wanted that again. Elias just wanted a plain old jack-o-lantern, happy of course. Benjamin got free reign over the markers so he was content, with a plan in place we began.

The kids hated it, they didn't want to touch the seeds, they wanted to do all the carving themselves, Benjamin was trying to eat the seeds...GONG SHOW! Brandon took over Elias and Kellie over Annie and calmness eventually prevailed. Elias was thrilled to have his Jack-o-lantern went off to play legos. Benjamin colored happily while Annie anxiously awaited her pumpkin to be completed. When daddy turned the pumpkin around and showed Annie, she immediately burst into tears, it was a happy face NOT Ariel, I guess daddy didn't get the memo! Kellie consoled Annie and quickly sprung into action. She printed off a picture of Annie's favorite Disney princess and poked dots along the outline. In under 10 min ,Ariel  was born. Annie at this point was in the bath beyond devastated by the injustice of it all. Kellie showed her the pumpkin and just like that, she was happy go lucky Annie( I am going to need some serious help to get that girl through her teenage years). The mess got cleaned up and the pumpkins set out on the front lawn , another successful pumpkin carving in the books!
The kids were f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g out about the pumpkin goop
but they sure were in awe once it all came pouring out
Naturally, Benjamin tried to eat the seeds, so we gave him markers instead!

We couldn't bribe Elias with enough candy or toys to touch the pumpkin goop, Annie did and found it fun to play with.

Elias peace'd out, and went to play Legos
Annie and Kellie doing some casual pumpkin carving while witing for Daddy to actually carve the pumpkin

 Daddy, that was NOT Ariel!!!!!

 Poor show Jordan......
 Kellie to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
