Mary Elizabeth- 8 Months

8 Month Update -

Weight: Mary hasn't been to the Dr. in a while but I am guessing she is right around 18 lbs

Hair color- Still not much more then some adorable light colored peach fuz

Eye Color- Breathtaking blue like her big brothers. I love blue eyes. Shhh don't tell the older three that!

Sleep-  Rock star. 12 hours a night and 2 one hour naps.

Eating-
You love love solids. You want to be in your high chair eating with the big kids every meal. You still nurse a bit but we seem to be on the way out with it. You have real food a few times a day, nurse a bit during the day/night and have a bottle here and there if you seem hungry, or sleepy.

Daily routine-  Wake up around 7. Eat play and poop until your morning nap. Wake up repeat until your late afternoon nap. Wake up and repeat until bed around 7.

Firsts: So many firsts this month! She began really pulling herself up onto everything in sight! She  takes baths sitting, pulls up to standing in her crib, and eats a wide variety of solid foods! She can crawl up the step into the kitchen and has been very interested in the stairs downstairs. She crawls FAST now.

What we are looking forward to: Hearing her babble and talk more

Message to Mary: Mary Lizzy, you have 5 teeth, crawl like a madwoman, pull to standing, babble all day, eats like an Eberhardt and sleeps like a dream. You are one very awesome baby!

Mary Elizabeth- 7 Months

7 Months (March 28th)

Weight
: I am not sure what Mary weighs but she is long so 6-9 month clothes are getting a bit snug

Hair color-  She still has so very little of it! What she does have is blondish

Eye Color- Baby Blues

Sleep- Mary is still a rock star sleeper! She goes to bed around 7 ish and wakes up about 12 hours later. I have no complaints. Zero. She naps 2-3 times a day, the morning nap is always on me during school, again no complaints. Sitting here 7 months later, I wish she would still nap on me. Those sweet snuggles just don't last long enough:(

Eating- I am much more laid back then with the other kids by this age. We try to do some self feeding, some puree and some chunky foods each day. The amount and type is a total crap shoot. Mary loves anything and everything but particularly avocados.

Daily routine-Even in our crazy life, we have manged to keep a pretty good routine. Wake around 7 eat, play, poop. Morning nap around 9:30 or so for about 45 minutes. Play more, lunch with the big kids then more playing and exploring until his afternoon nap around 2. If I can keep the house quiet, this is his longest sleep of the day. After nap we eat some more, play some more and run kids to activities. Mary is still so chill she is just along for the ride.

Firsts: First few crawls, first time standing up, and so many more I'm sure I don't remember 7 months later( sorry Mary!)

What we are looking forward to: Just seeing this sweet girl grow more and develop more of a personality because right now she is a quiet observer.

Message to Mary: Mary, you are still an awesome baby. You sleep, have teeth, eat solids, and have developed some neat new tricks. You can now go from sitting to tummy( without smashing your face on the floor) and you started crawling! You can hold a plank like a boss and best of all, you  now nap in your crib!!

Mary Elizabeth- 6 Months

6 Months

Weight: Mary had her appointment 2 weeks after turning 6 months and was weighing in at 16 lbs 11oz and 26 inches long.

Hair color- Still unknown, there is so little of it, its hard to tell!

Eye Color-Baby Blues

Sleep- Mary is an absolute dream sleeper at night. She goes to bed around 7 without a peep and wakes up 12 hours later. She has not real nap routine during the day but she usually averages 2 naps but they are still hit or miss as far as time.
Eating- Mary eats great! She is busy trying all kinds of food but she really loves avocados and bananas. Maybe that is because those are really easy for me to feed to her...while sitting on the kitchen floor:)

Daily routine-Wake up around 7 ish, You pretty much go with the flow from here. Our lives have been absolutely insane with all of your older siblings busy competition and activity schedules! You do nap a couple times a day but only if someone is holding you. I know this won't last forever so I just enjoy those 45 min naps with you snuggle on my chest. We do solids once a day, occasionally twice if I remember. You let me know when its time to eat so I don't bother to notice how far apart your feedings are. You spend your awake hours pretty much being the happiest most content baby to ever live. You eat and happily head to bed around 7.

Firsts: Sitting up! Sitting in the big girl high chair.

What we are looking forward to:  Mary's personality developing more. Right now she just loves to sit back and watch the world go on around her.

Message to Mary: Mary you are still the most perfect baby ever! You are always smiling and content. You refuse sleep unless being held but you love to play on the floor with your siblings so I am able to get stuff done during your awake hours. You are a rock star traveler and gymnastics fan. We still don't think you hear very well but we are keeping an eye on it and will get it checked out soon!

Mary Elizabeth 5 months

5 Months

Weight: You weigh about 15 lbs and are in 3-6 months clothes.  You seem to have a long torso so we have even snuk in some 6-9 month sleepers and onsies.

Hair color- Good question! It is either blonde, strawberry blonde or light red. Not brown and not black. Her hair is taking FOREVER to grow, she is still pretty bald.

Eye Color- Dark blue right now but they are getting lighter still.

Sleep- You do not nap unless on someone or in a vehicle. I don't mind terribly as you are my last baby and I will soak up those new born snuggles all I can. You are a rock star at night. You go to bed around 8 and I don't see you until 7 or so in the morning. Thank you.

Eating-  You still nurse every 2-3 hours for the most part. You started solids this month and were less than impressed.

Daily routine- Get up around 7 or 8 depending on the chaos around here. Eat, play, take some naps, play some more, eat some more etc etc. You are a super easy going baby so your schedule varies day by day but always to bed by 8.

Firsts: Time going to Minnesota, first non sibling birthday party(Ainsley) , first time eating solids, first time sitting up alone.

What we are looking forward to:  More independent sitting because that means more play time for you and free hands for me! Also, a consistent nap schedule.

Mary Elizabeth where to start? You are the sweetest, smile-est, best-est traveler, best sleeper cuddliest baby (EVER) I can't figure out what I did to get the perfect baby ( 6th try is a charm?) You are amazing! You have been on so many road trips this last month to so many meets and so happy through it all. Strangers frequently come up to me after meets and tell me what a good baby you are. You coo "talk" love to play with your two bottom teeth with your tongue, roll all over the place, push up on you belly and are starting to sit but not without some help very close by. You are also a great model for my clothes making obsession. You don't nap which I would say is your only negative quality at this point. We love you lots! Please don't be an awful teenager in exchange for being a good baby!

Mary Elizabeth- 4 Months

Mary 4 Months

Weight: Mary has gained weight beautifully and is now 15 lbs!! She is also 26.5 inches long and in the 85th% for height.

Hair color- This one is a mystery. I still think its going to be red. Not enough to tell but darn it I am hopeful for one red head baby!

Eye Color- Blue, just like his big brother Sammy and Nicholas

Sleep- Miss Mary Mac you are still a rock star night sleeper. You usually go 10-12 hours in a row! I love you so so much for this! You really aren't a big napper but my goal this next month is to get you on a solid nap routine. You are getting to be too old for this no nap routine business.

Eating- Eats every 3 hours nom nom

Daily routine-Up anytime between 7 and 9 depending on how loud the kids are in the morning. If he is up at 7 he takes a nap around 9. Mary then sticks to a pretty eat every three hours. There is pooping and playing mixed in but you are a cat napper for sure so that hasn't made its way into our daily routines.. I am looking forward this month to establishing his sleep schedule during the day. I think a huge challenge is how loud it is!

Firsts: So many firsts again this month! Rolling back to front, first Christmas, first road trip to your first gymnastics meet!

What we are looking forward to: More rolling and sitting, you are darn close to doing this on your own already!

Funny tidbit: I copy and paste these from the previous baby and this was the message from Nicholas 4 month update. Looks like Mary and Nicholas have a lot in common!!
Message to Nicholas Mary: Mary, you are THE HAPPIEST baby EVER!!!! You have only been fussy a handful of times and all were because you were hangry. I don't know what I did to get such an easy going happy baby but I thank God for you! You have zero problem being held by your siblings and you really enjoy your reading time with Annie and Elias each day( and I enjoy the free hands) You love your baby carrier/wrap and will stay in it as long as I want you to. You love everyone you meet and are pretty easy to get a smile out of. You are awesome.

Mary Elizabeth- 3 months

3 Months

Weight: Mary is officially out of her 0-3 month clothes and filling out nicely. I would guess she is right around 14 lbs.
Hair color- Mary doesn't have much hair at all. She has really light colored peach fuzz at the top and some darker strands in back. It is way too early to predict what color her hair will be.

Eye Color- A beautiful blue, going to be a blue eyed boy like his big brother Sammy

Sleep-  Mary is a dream night sleeper! She goes to bed around 8 and most days sleeps all the way until between 6-8. Depending on how loud the house is, sometimes she just eats and goes back to bed until 9 or so. Mary doesn't nap, like ever. She just loves watching the world go round.

Eating- Never misses a meal! She is pretty demanding about eating every 3 hours and starts chomping her her fists and sucking her lower lip if she decides she needs to eat sooner.

Daily routine- We don't really have a daily routine. Mary gets up between 7-9 we eat, play, homeschool, eat more, play more and homeschool more. She eats every three hours and usually I can get her to pass out for a morning nap and she usually falls asleep in her car seat for an afternoon nap while running big kids to activities. She goes to bed around 8 every night.

Firsts: Halloween, All Saints day party, Thanksgiving, decorating for Christmas, St. Nicholas day, rolling over from front to back...I think that is it, it was a big month!

What we are looking forward to: Movement! Mary already loves to sit up and roll. I bet it won't be long before she is independently playing with her toys while sitting up....I guess we should find some baby toys!

Mary Elizabeth-2 Months

Mary is now  3 months old but I will try to remember what she was like a month ago

Mary has turned a corner! After we started doing bottles more she plumped up a bit and started crying a lot less!

Weight: Mary weighted 11lbs 7 oz
Eye Color- They are for sure going to be blue!

Sleep- Mary is kind of a rock star sleeper at night. She sleeps for 3-7 hour stretches a night. If I don't put her down until 9 I usually don't have to get up more than once a night. She really has no nap pattern but will sleep while being held or carried.

Eating-This has also drastically improved! Mary nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. She will happily take a bottle if we are out and about. She seems MUCH more content and full these days!

Daily routine- Mary doesn't really have a daily routine yet.  Her bed time is now around 9 and she usually only wakes up once. We are up for the day around 7 and she cat naps and eats the rest of the day. She is starting to be more interested in the world around her and loves when her siblings talk to her.

Firsts: First time sleeping through the night! First Halloween, first time meeting Auntie Melissa, first trim to the corn maze.

What we are looking forward to:  Seeing her sweet face as she interacts with us even more.

Message to Mary: Thank you for being an awesome sleeper and good baby this month. Sorry for starving you last month.
-Love Mom

Mary Elizabeth- 1 month

Mary is now almost 3 months old but I will try to remember what she was like 2 short months ago

Mary has had a rough 1st month of life! She had trouble gaining weight, trouble eating, trouble sleeping, hates the car seat, hates walks,  and so on and so on. She is very fidgety and I am fairly certain her tummy is giving her troubles either hunger, gassy or upset. Despite all of this she was my earliest baby to smile and is still oh so sweet. When you have a new baby everyone asks" oh is she a good baby?" I could do the " Oh, ya she is great" but what fun is that so I give a truthful answer to friends and strangers alike." No, she cries all the time and is crabby but she is baby 6 and it doesn't phase me. We try to make her as happy and comfortable as possible and one day she will be more smiles then cries" So in summary her first month was lots of sweet sweet baby snuggles and lots of cries.

Weight: Mary had a weight check at 2 days and was still loosing weight so we did another check at 2 weeks. She was still not back up to her birth weight so we had to start pumping and doing bottles to make sure she was eating enough. She wasn't a fan of the bottles at first but did eat well enough to gain weight! Based on the home scale she hit the 9 lb mark a few days after  she hit a month old.

Eye Color- They are still that baby blue that all babies are born with but I think they will be blue like Samuel and Nicholas'!

Sleep- Mary is pretty hit or miss with sleep. She sometimes sleeps all day and night and sometimes is awake it seems like all day and night. We try to settle down for the night around 10 but usually end up not being able to get our first long stretch in until midnight or 1. I usually get a couple hour stretch once or twice a night and its slowly getting better so I have no complaints. Just part of having a newborn! She doesn't usually sleep for more then 2.5 hours at night, however, if you hold her she will sleep for 3-4. She loves to be warm and next to body heat!

Eating- Poor girl eats constantly because she keeps falling asleep in the middle of eating. I would say during the day she eats every hour. Once we started pumping and doing bottles she was eating every 2. Exhausting but necessary!

Daily routine- Mary doesn't really have a daily routine yet. She consistently goes to bed for the first long stretch around midnight and we get out of bed for the day around 10( 7 once Brandon went back to work, BOO!) Her best sleep is from 7-10 which is nice now that Brandon is back to work. She sleeps and I am able to get up, pump and get the day started with the kids before crabby pants mcgee wakes up for the day. We spend the rest of the day eating, driving to activities, homeschooling and  napping when we aren't crying.

Firsts: Everything! First visitors, First tummy time ,First trip to grandma's, first shots, First outing in public and I am really sad to say, I can't even remember where we went, Maybe Annie's gymnastics? First (of many)photo sessions with brothers and sister, First time being wrapped, First cloth diaper, first bottle, first time outside with the family, first smile and so many more!

What we are looking forward to:  Cherishing this baby stage and soaking in all the sweet snuggles. She is the last one after all! Figuring out how to make her more content so she isn't so uncomfortable and crying all the time.

Message to Mary: You are going to hear a lot how you were the CRABBIEST baby EVER. I want you to know, despite this, you were so unbelievably loved! All your siblings, grandparents, family friends and of course us, did everything we could to make you feel better. You were always held, snuggled, kissed and soothed. In a house of 8, no one seemed to mind the crying all that much.  Since you gave us such a hard time at the beginning, please be an easy toddler and perfect teen. K? Thanks.
Love, Mom
