WAR

In keeping up with fun free family time summer fun, Brandon bought some water balloons at the store last week! I spent all of nap time filling up those dang things! Seriously, why is it suchc a tedious process? Did you see there is some guy who invented a quick fill self tie  water balloon kit, looks awesome! Anyways, I filled up the baby pool and let it and the water balloons warm up in the sun until it was time for the big fight. We layed the ground rules : stop if someone was screaming and no spraying mommy while she had the camera. With the rules out of the way, the teams shook had and took their starting place. I sounded the horn and the rush to the water weapons began. From there, it was all out war. Balloons flying, water spraying and so much laughter!!! There were several sneak attacks, counter attacks and group attacks. The fight lasted about 30 min with the kids out lasting the adults. After the mess was cleaned I sat down to go trough the pictures I took. As I was combing through I noticed two things; 1. Brandon might have taken the games a bit to seriously, see his action shots below.

2. Water balloons bounce of uncle Jordan EVERY SINGLE TIME

More farmers market fun

Farmer's Market is in full swing. We get up Saturday mornings ready to face the fun filled day! After breakfast, I secure help if needed ( In the form of Grandma Mim or Uncle Jordan) pack up the kids and we head downtown. We don't do much shopping, except the cookies of course! Our routine is still pretty much the same. Park, walk to the market, buy cookies, eat cookies while enjoying what ever band is playing, run off cookie energy on the dyke, go home.

 A couple times ago, the kids and Uncle Jordan decided to roll down the dyke, that was a pretty funny sight! A passer by on a bicycle commented to Jordan for a job well done showing those kids how it a hill roll should be performed. The kids wear off a lot of energy running up and down the dyke, add in some rolling and you have very tired, ready for nap kids( bonus!). After the hill rolling shenanigans are complete, we like to walk down by the river and check out the levels, they vary a lot this time of year and its fun to see. The kids always have questions about the flood of '97 and of course, they have to "climb" the flood marker. Not sure if you can tell or not, but we love our farmer markets Saturdays!

Sprinkler Time

This summer has been unseasonably cool. Until last week, we hadent even ventured into the upper 80's much less 90's. I kinda have a rule that we don't do water fun unless it's close to 90. You take skinny little kids and combine that with cold faucet water, you get a lot of complaining if the outside temperature isn't at least 87( in my expert mommy opinion at least). Well, we FINALLY got a few warm days the week my parents were gone. Their sprinkler system was off and their lawn needed a good watering, the Eberhardt reluctantly agreed to be outside while the sprinkler was doing it's thing. 

The kids had a great time! Running through the water, drinking the water and of course, seeing how close they could come before the oscillating sprinkler got them! 

As you can see, the older three had the best time, Samuel on the other hand... Not so much. Everytime he got near the water he screamed, or cried. He did eventually find contentment with wonderingn around the yard freely, for that we were happy. 

New park in town

We spend a lot of our summer at various parks around our wonderful litte city. For the last year or so, a new park has been going up in my parents neighborhood. We drove by the construction every time we went to my parents, or the gym, or grandma mim's, basically everywhere we went! One day this spring, we drove by and there were PEOPLE playing! The park had finally been completed and was ready for playing. It took a few months to work it into our rotation, but I finally got a chance to take the kids there a couple weeks ago. It has lots of nice new squeaky clean equipment and the kids had a blast running around and exploring. We were the only ones there for awhile, until a daycare group showed up complete with three of Annie's ballet friends! A few minuets later, the one and only Virgil showed up! This made the park adventure that much more exciting. It was another fun morning at the park!
