Benjamin's Arm..again

Last winter, Benjamin got nursemaids elbow, he was in a lot of pain and we were scared, thinking for sure it was broken. After a short visit to the ER they were able to fix Benjamin's arm, give us some advice on how to avoid it in the future and send us on our way. Fast forward to mid-September, I hear a loud scream from the other room and walk around the corner to Brandon holding Benjamin saying  "It's nursemaids elbow again!" Brandon headed to the ER for what we hopped would be a short visit and a quick fix for Mr. Benjamin...WRONG! Brandon and Benjamin spent several  hours at the ER. The PA diagnosed Benjamin with nursemaids elbow and said he felt it go into place, but Benjamin still couldn't and wouldn't move it around. They took x-rays and said all looked good and said it was probably just sore and to keep an eye on it. Benjamin got to bed around 10 and woke around 4 am just screaming in pain, this time I took him back to the ER. We saw a Dr. this time and he said the same thing, nursemaids elbow, but I think I got it back in. Benjamin still wouldn't move his arm so the Dr. gave us a sling and a consult for orthopedics.

The entire next day, Benjamin was just a sad hurt little boy. He was the calmest I have ever seen him in his life, he just wanted to snuggle and not move. The next morning we got into orthopedics and once again we heard the same story, nursemaids elbow but this time the Dr. said, it really didn't feel like it went back into place like it usually feels. He gave Benjamin a hard removable splint, which really helped Benjamin with the pain and said he was going to do a consult with Mayo and be in touch.

Over the next 24 hours Benjamin started to learn to use his shoulder to do more things but when we took off the splint, he would cry and beg to have it back on. We went back in the next morning for x-rays and again they looked good, as they did the first time they were taken. The Orthopedic Dr. said he was going to try one more time to get Benjamin's arm to reduce and if he couldn't we were going to have to schedule an appointment with a specialist in the cities for a contrast MRI, didn't sound like fun to me! Poor Benjamin was screaming and crying and all of a sudden we all heard a very loud and disgusting POP! The Dr. was confidant that he got it and sent us on our way but wanted me to call to update him. Within an hour Benjamin was using his arm as if it was never hurt! Looks like Mr. Benjamin has his mom's bad ligaments! We are just very thankful he is good as new again!
