Elias started occupational therapy back up over the summer. He was having some struggles and after a formal evaluation, it was deemed he could benefit from going again. His OT, who also happens to be my friend Steph, recommended we get him a swing for home to get in some extra vestibular motion. She told me about Spin For Kids, which is a charity organization who distributes funds for family's who financially qualify, to purchase therapy equipment. Well being a family of 6 on 1 income, I figured financially qualifying wouldn't be too hard:)
We filled out the paperwork and waited....WE GOT APPROVED! Steph recommended a couple different swing and within a week of getting approved Elias had his new swings.
We had a trusty friend come and mount the mounting thingy( see how knowledgeable I am) in the ceiling joist. We hooked up the swings and Elias immediately crawled in to do his science reading. He spends time on the swing every day and its been wonderful for both him and us. He does all his reading assignments and some ipad playing in there as well as some different more exercise type stuff. If he needs some alone time or is having a particularly rough day, to the swing he goes.
Right now the swing is in the sewing room, which will one day turn into Elias' room. It is a perfect addition to our homeschool day! Thanks Steph for the suggestion and help getting it paid for!
