Bring in the help- Day 1,2

The first night in our new house was a strange one. I stayed up extremely late unpacking the kitchen and Brandon was up late...well three weeks later I don't know what he was doing but he was up late too.  We had three kids on an air mattress in one room and Samuel in his empty room ( with a crib) in another. No one slept that great and the kids were up bright and early, thanks to day light savings two days before. I woke up, loaded up the kids and we went and got breakfast, well, because we still had zero food. The cold stuff was at my moms( milk eggs etc) and the warm stuff was in boxes still. We took a long drive to Tim Hortons and the entire ride home I just thought about what a gong show this week was going to be.
I had already decided to take the entire week off home school, we had been doing a little work here and there on the weekends so we were ahead before the move. That relieved one of the many moving stresses.
After my super healthy breakfast I released the kids to run, play and explore while I tried to figure out where to start. This is the part of the move that was the most hectic. Annie and the boys were all getting new paint colors in their rooms and the "green room" was being turned into the "blue room" We couldn't set up the kids bunk beds or do any of their clothes/toys because the rooms needed to be painted first and thus empty. Mim had already started on Annies room and it was scheduled to be done today only she had no furniture assembled. The homeschool room was filled with So. Many. Boxes as well as  $1500 worh of Ikea stuff that needed to be assembled. We also had several other peices of self assemble furniture to put together for various rooms. After feeling overwhelmed for a few more minuets, I cracked a cold diet coke and decided to tackle Samuels room. His room was not undergoing a paint job and most of his stuff was packed in well labled boxes and already in his room..bonus! I was able to get his entire room/closet set up by nap time and that felt good.
Around lunch, my family was going to swing by after voting to check the place out. Their stomachs were on the mend. My parents walked in,took one look around, looked at each other and said " we are staying to help!" My parents have moved enough in their life to recognize a hot mess when they see one. They were a God send. My dad got to work on the Ikea furniture, my mom finished unpacking my kitchen, I located various boxes of clothes and bathroom essentials and the older kids played...all while Brandon and the little boys slept.
My parents stayed until just about dinner, when Jordan and Mim showed up. Nothing like having constant help! Jordan helped my dad finish the Ikea furniture for Annie's room then Jordan helped out with various other tasks while Mim locked her self in the basement and painted.
Anyone want to assemble Ikea? My dad put together 2 sets of drawers for the kids desk, 5 pieces of Stuva furniture for Annie's room, one big 8 drawer dresser for my room and 2 trofast toy storage units for the Legos. THANKS!
First thing my parents did was hlep clear out the green room and put boxes in the room they belonged in.
 Still a disaster
This is what the kitchen looked like AFTER my all night session putting stuff away, by the time my mom left it was a functional kitchen!
Benjmain was the best helper man any one could ask for, he drills and paints!

Samuel was so totally overwhelmed that he went for a little ride with mommy while I unpacked.

Day one was a success! Day 2 was much the same, we had all our help back again and by the time all was said and done Annies room was finished, the kitchen done the "green room" done ( for now). Samuel's room done, our room done and the laundry room flooded....that story is for tomorrow :)

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who helped us move. Especially our parents who worked their butts off unpacking, painting and assembling furniture. Oh, and entertaining my kids too
